The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) is federal legislation that applies to institutions in receipt of federal funds that control NAGPRA applicable collections. NAGPRA provides a process for identifying, affiliating and returning Native American and Native Hawaiian Ancestors and cultural belongings.
The University of Connecticut is committed to ensuring that Native American and Native Hawaiian Ancestors and belongings are maintained and returned by the University in a respectful, dignified and legally compliant manner as required by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
